Santander





El Palacio de la Magdalena
Santander is a city on you can find interesting places. “El Palacio de la Magdalena” with an eclectic style, was built on 1909 to 1911 to the royal family. The project was of Javier González Riacho and Gonzalo Bringas Vega.



Playas de El Sardinero
These enourmous beaches began to be famous in s.XIX – XX. Is a very beautiful place.



Seaport of Santander
This seaport is managed by the “Autoridad Portuaria de Santander” and belongs to maritime province of Santander.




City Council of Santander
The City Council of Santander is in the central place of the city. The project of the building was of Julio Martínez Zapata. Is one of the most important builidings of Santander.
The major is Íñigo de la Serna since 2007.



Plaza Porticada
Pedro Velarde's place, or Plaza Porticada, is one of the most central places of Santander, built with a neoclassical style.
The place was opened in 1950. The project was made for Javier González de Riacho, Rafael Huidobro and Valentín del Noval.



Pereda gardens
The gardens are dedicated to José María de Pereda, an important writer. The gardens are in the old port of the city. In the gardens are a statue of José María de Pereda.



Santa Lucia's church
Santa Lucia's church is in the center of the city, near the Pereda gardens. The church is only open during service.
The church was built in 1868.



Riva Herrera's house and tower
The Riva Herrera's palace is in the “Barrio de Pronillo of Santander.

El Gran Casino
El Gran Casino de El Sardinero is in El Sardinero, in Italia's place. The building was built in 1926 for Eloy Martínez del Valle.



Menéndez Pelayo Library
The place was built on 1912, and the City Council accept the colection of books of Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo.
